About

Anchored by frequent San Jose Jazz collaborators Oscar Pangilinan and Fred Paclibon, The Bad Five is a modern jazz ensemble inspired by the entirety of jazz, from its birth in New Orleans to its adolescence in New York; all the way to its present-day form. Comprised of saxophonist Pagilinan and bassist Paclibon--with Daniel Matthews, trumpet; Bennett Roth-Newell, piano; and Sutton Marley, drums, the group pays homage to the jazz artists of generations past and actively infuses new and exciting sounds from other genres to create its own unique, modern sound. If you like the energy of the twice-monthly Jazz Jam at the Hedley (co-founded by Pangilinan and trumpeter John Worley) you'll want to check out this new project.
