Kuumbwa Jazz Center

Since 1975, Kuumbwa Jazz has grown from its small beginnings to one of the most highly respected jazz-presenting institutions in the country, attracting artists of national and international renown. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of jazz through weekly concerts in their intimate 200 seat venue and education programs for all ages. Kuumbwa (pronounced koo-um-ba, silent “w”) is a Swahili word meaning act of spontaneous creativity. Kuumbwa is committed to Jazz Education opportunities for everyone. Programs include: High School Jazz Honor Band, Summer Jazz Camp, Artist in the Schools Program, and Master Class Series
